Our Growth Story

Cornerstone Advertising grew from humble beginnings into a contractor-focused marketing partner. Built on resilience, we focus on growth.

Forged on Resilience. Focused on Growth.

From a one-dollar agency acquisition to a disciplined marketing partner built specifically for home service contractors.

Cornerstone Advertising was not built overnight. It was forged on resilience, reinvention, and more than three decades of experience in residential home service marketing.

What began as a small agency acquisition in the mid-1990s evolved into a specialized marketing firm dedicated exclusively to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and other home service businesses nationwide.

The Early Foundations

Founder and Principal, Tracy Paul, began his career during the rise of desktop publishing and design, eventually purchasing the agency where he worked for only one dollar: an opportunity that became the foundation of Cornerstone Advertising.

The agency’s first major client was DialOne Heating and Cooling, out of Indianapolis, Indiana. That relationship sparked a long-term focus on the trades: a focus that has defined the company ever since.

A Defining Turning Point

Early growth came quickly, but so did adversity. The loss of a major client in the early years forced the agency to rethink its structure and financial model.

Instead of relying on commission-based media structures, Cornerstone rebuilt around a transparent, fee-for-service model rooted in accountability and performance. That shift established a core principle that still defines the company today: Earn business each month through results, not restrictive contracts.

Specialization in the Trades

Over the next two decades, Cornerstone partnered with contractors ranging from emerging operators to nationally recognized brands in some of the most competitive markets in the country.

Rather than expanding across industries, the company stayed focused on the home services industry. The company began developing a deeper operational understanding of seasonality, service-line prioritization, dispatch capacity, lead quality versus volume, and marketing’s impact on field performance and revenue growth.

Specialization became a competitive advantage.

Industry Leadership & Involvement

As Cornerstone grew, so did its role within the industry.

Tracy has served as a speaker, trainer, and coach for organizations such as Service Nation, ACCA, CertainPath, and various contractor industry conferences, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to disciplined marketing and measurable ROI.

Cornerstone is proud to maintain active involvement within leading industry organizations, including:

  • ACCA
  • Service Nation
  • CertainPath

This ongoing engagement helps Cornerstone remain aligned with the evolving needs of contractors nationwide and share our 30+ years of marketing the trades.

Adapting Through Change

As consolidation and private equity reshaped the home services landscape, Cornerstone adapted its model to serve growth-focused contractors across a broader portfolio.

The agency implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to create internal clarity and accountability, and later transitioned to an agile, cross-functional team structure, improving collaboration and performance visibility for clients.

Structure and adaptability defines how Cornerstone operates.
